SQUIB-IN-3FT-80

The Only ATF Non-Regulated Initiator on the Market

Electric Match / Squib · 3 ft Leads · 80 Pieces · Blue & White Lead Wire

The Safe Explosives Act of 2003 regulated igniters across the board. After extensive sampling and direct conversations with the ATF, this squib was cleared as a non-regulated product — purpose-made for inert training device fabrication, rocketry, law enforcement, and consumer fireworks. Per the governing patent and ATF agreement, it is available only with blue and white lead wire: that color pair is the identifier of the compliant, non-regulated article.

What It's For

This is the initiator our IED training aid and IED builder kit customers use to give inert training devices a functional initiation signature — the flash and report that makes render-safe training honest without energetic payloads. The same electric match serves rocketry motors, professional and consumer fireworks, and law enforcement training applications. Don't be fooled by 'non-regulated' claims elsewhere: igniters as a class are regulated, and this specific article's status is the product of ATF sampling, not marketing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this initiator really not regulated by the ATF?

Yes — and that status is the exception, not the rule. The Safe Explosives Act of 2003 regulated igniters as a class. This specific squib was cleared as non-regulated after samples were provided to and conversations were held with the ATF. It was made specifically for rocketry, law enforcement, and consumer fireworks applications.

Why is it only available with blue and white lead wire?

Per the governing patent and the agreement with the ATF, the non-regulated article is produced only with blue and white lead wire. The color pair is the compliance identifier — if it isn't blue and white, it isn't this product.

Who uses these?

EOD and C-IED training cells building inert training devices that need a real initiation signature, rocketry hobbyists and professionals, law enforcement training programs, and fireworks users. If you're building training aids, see our IED Training Aids and Inert Explosives lines — this squib is the functional component in an otherwise inert device.

Why can't I return these, and why is shipping slow?

Shipping these via US Mail requires a special permit, which is why returns are not accepted and why small orders move by Parcel Post — uninsured, up to 2 weeks, with a tracking number that only scans at origin and destination. Order deliberately, and order early.

How long has EOD Gear supplied training components?

EOD Gear has been supplying initiation and training components to agencies since 2012, and manufactures inert training aids, dearmers, and initiators in Franklin, Tennessee under ISO 9001:2015.
